A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) allows you to pay for a variety of out-of-pocket health and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Plan your annual FSA contribution amounts carefully; the election you make when you enroll is binding for the entire plan year (January 1 through December 31) unless you have a qualifying status change.

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged personal savings account and financial tool. You may contribute to an HSA when you participate in ULG's High Deductible Health Plan. It allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to help pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses.

In 2024, you may contribute (via payroll deduction) up to $3,050 (projected to increase to $3,200) in the Health Care FSA and $5,000 in the Dependent Care FSA. You can contribute up to $4,150 to your HSA if you have individual coverage or $8,300 for family coverage.
